The John C. and Sally Horsfall Eaton Centre for Ambulatory Care

A Modern Rehabilitation Facility

On November 1, 2011, St. John's Rehab opened the new John C. and Sally Horsfall Eaton Centre for Ambulatory Care. The 49,000-square foot space consolidates all of the hospital's outpatient services under one roof, dramatically expanding and improving treatment space.  The new wing features clinic space for face-masks, splinting, gait training, two spacious new treatment gyms, and the modern St. John's Rehab Hospital Volunteer Association Therapy Pool.

The new wing was jointly funded by the Government of Ontario, which contributed $35.7 million toward construction costs and $1.2 million in additional yearly operating funds, and our generous donors. We are particularly grateful to the Sisterhood of St. John the Divine, which donated $5 million through the Ashforth Trust, and the visionary $2 million investment by John C. and Sally Horsfall Eaton.

Renovations and Campus Redevelopment

Crews have now begun renovating the existing structure and campus. The new wing will allow St. John’s Rehab to repurpose existing space and spread its 160 inpatient beds from four to five floors to provide more room for treatment and specialized rehabilitation equipment. Campus redevelopment will include the addition of more accessible parking, a new main hospital entrance, and a therapy garden.

The redevelopment is possible thanks to the support of the Government of Ontario, and the contributions of our generous donors - in particular, John C. and Sally Horsfall Eaton, whose lead gift of $2 million helped pave the way for construction. Thank you also to patients, visitors, partners, staff and our Willowdale neighbours for your patience and support of this important project.

Scheduled for completion by 2012, St. John's Rehab's redevelopment efforts are specifically designed to help people return to active, productive lives in their homes, communities and places of work.
